You may be a candidate for Hormone Therapy

There are different forms of hormone therapy that we can use to relieve your symptoms.

In our practice, we’ve found the most effective hormone treatment is bioidentical hormone pellet therapy.

The pellet is specifically designed to match the body’s needs. Its advantage is its timed-release mechanism.

How Pellet Therapy works

A Timed-Release Hormone Solution

The pellet works like a sandstone in a river. Each time the river runs over the sandstone, the water carries away minute traces of the sandstone from the surface of the rock.

Similarly, when blood passes over a pellet inserted under the skin in the body’s fatty tissue, blood or lymphatic fluid carries traces of the hormone back through the body.

The amount of secretion of hormones is regulated by the activity of the body. The body will receive the amount of hormone it needs as determined by your level of activity.

For example, If you’re exercising and your heart rate is elevated, then more hormones will come out to meet your body’s demands.

If you’re resting, then the body uses less hormone, and the blood flow is slowed, and less hormone is released.

Pellet Therapy Questions

Hormone Pellet Therapy FAQ

Here are some questions we commonly get about Bioidentical Hormone Pellet Therapy:

How is treatment administered?

After consultation, bioidentical therapy is delivered via a tiny pellet, painlessly inserted into the fatty tissue under the skin.

How long do treatments last?

The bioidentical pellet can last anywhere from four to six months. Your body regulates how much hormone it needs and the pellet releases accordingly.

What do the pellets contain?

Pellets contain bioidentical estradiol or testosterone, created from soy or yam extracts that have been refined by pharmaceutical companies to precisely replicate the chemical structure of human hormones, estradiol or testosterone.

Can pellet therapy increase breast cancer risk?

No. Studies done in Europe showed the use of estradiol pellets does not increase the risk of developing breast cancer.

What are the side effects of pellet therapy?

Replacing our body’s hormones at the normal level does not cause unwanted side effects. However, if the dose is too high it can lead to negative consequences. This is why it’s so important to work with an experienced physician who knows how to choose the accurate dosing when implanting pellets, as the pellets are difficult to remove once implanted. Additionally, since this is a minor surgical procedure, there is always a risk of infection or scar formation. To reduce those risks, it’s important to follow the post operative instructions closely.
